I believe there is a lot of merit to NOT stuffing your face with junk before you try to do some good for your body, via exercise.  Actually, going for at least 3 to 4 hours before a workout without eating may be very beneficial for you!  It may feel odd at first, because you're use to eating beforehand, but think about it.  Is your body worried about digesting food while exercising? NOPE. Especially with high intensity exercise.  It's a natural response by your body to turn off GI function while in a sympathetic state, or high stress state.  So work with this natural law of life and achieve optimal functioning.
