Daily Practices

  • Through the course of our lives.. we encounter various 'stresses' that impact our nervous system.
    • Physically
    • Chemically
    • Nutritionally
    • Psychologically

STRESS #1

Master Control

  • Your enteric nervous system is a complex system of 100 billion neurons.. basically the same amount as your spinal cord. Pretty neat eh?
    • BUT, it's controlled by your autonomic nervous system [brain and spinal cord]
      • Which, controls EVERYTHING in the body.
      • If this system is functioning at 100%, every system of your body is able to function as close to 100% as possible.
    • Your spinal cord and base of the brain stem (vagus nerve) are protected by a highly functional unit called... your SPINE.
    • These act as interference's to the optimal functioning of our autonomic nervous system.. hindering our bodies ability to function at 100%
Stress #2

  • MINDSET
    • Take care of yo-self and yer MIND+SOUL+SPIRIT
      • Our nervous system doesn't recognize the difference between societal or perceived stress, and that of a life threatening situation.

Stress #3
  • Intermittent Fast and/or Longer Fasting Periods
    • Give yer gut a BREAK

There's all sorts of cleanses out there. Some recommend only juice, some supplements, others bone broth... it's hard to know where to start!

Quite honestly, there's probably some merit to some of these!   Definitely NOT all, or even most as many are programs with products they want you to use. Truth is.. you should be able to do a 'cleanse' using REAL food (or.. derived from food).  Some additional things could be helpful. Which, are listed below.

Doing an occasional cleanse can be extremely beneficial for your body and psyche, from every dimension. Ideally, a cleanse should be:

Common Medical Approach

What is LINZESS?
LINZESS® (linaclotide) is a prescription medication used in adults to treat irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS‑C) and chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC). "Idiopathic" means the cause of the constipation is unknown. It is not known if LINZESS is safe and effective in children less than 18 years of age.

  • So is it safe for those who are.. 19? 30? 70?
  • Idiopathic.. as in.. they have no idea what's causing it.

Obesity, metabolic syndrome and gastrointestinal disease are all influenced by our gut microbiome.

Microbiota and Autoimmunity

"The commensal microbiota affects many aspects of mammalian health including control of the immune system to such a extent that a “commensalocentric” view of the maintenance of overall health could be suggested. Autoimmunity is a case of mistaken identity: The immune system reacts to self-tissues and cells as if they were pathogens. Autoimmune reactions can be both advanced or blocked by the commensal microbiota, which can affect innate and adaptive arms of immune responses as well as the mechanisms of “innate–adaptive connection.” Whether specific microbial lineages affect immunity and autoimmunity (the “specific lineage hypothesis”) or multiple lineages can tip the homeostatic balance that regulates host/microbiota homeostasis toward reduced or enhanced host reactivity (the “balanced signal hypothesis”) is yet unknown. The complexity of host/microbiota interactions needs to be fully appreciated in order to find the means for prophylaxis and treatment of autoimmune disorders."
